Founded in 2010, Deporvillage is today an e-commerce leader in Southern Europe for products specialising in cycling, running and the outdoors. Part of the JD Sports group, it posted revenue of €160 million in 2022 and sells its sports goods worldwide.
The challenges
Increasing the visibility and efficiency of eCommerce operations
With growing sales volumes and increasingly complex operations, Deporvillage needed new solutions that would give it better control of the business across every area. Centralised, real-time information to support key processes such as demand forecasting and stock replenishment, in order to increase the profitability of its operations.
Greater agility to support rapid international growth
The launch of its international sales, initially in Italy, France and Portugal, then in other countries such as Belgium, England, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, required greater agility in the processes tied to warehouse and stock management, as well as order preparation and shipping.
Supporting the omnichannel vision
With the strategic goal of moving towards omnichannel, the company opened its first physical stores in 2023. As part of this new phase, Deporvillage needs a store solution with point-of-sale software that integrates seamlessly with the other components already in place and delivers the shopping experience the company envisions for its customers.
The solution
Deporvillage uses Orisha Commerce as its central commerce platform, covering the management of both its eCommerce operations and its stores. From the outset, the solution's capabilities enabled a fast implementation and strong evolution over time, delivering tangible results for the business.
The solution, implemented by Practics Business Solutions, an official Openbravo partner, now supports key processes in purchasing, sales and invoicing, as well as logistics, with the integration of the eCommerce platform and various operators. The company's own algorithms for automating the purchasing process have also been applied.
In store, Openbravo supports sales, returns, stock management and replenishment , as well as price and promotion management. The solution also enables a flexible checkout process, taking advantage of Openbravo's certified connector with Adyen for payments.
The challenge of opening physical stores, while we are already a leader in the online sports market, is a firm commitment to omnichannel. The trust we place in Orisha Commerce and Practics, combined with having a clearly differentiated store solution on the market, made the decision an obvious one for us. Orisha Retail Chains now allows Deporvillage to manage operations across both channels from a single point of contact. The retailer now has a single, real-time view of all its customers, orders and stock, enabling it to better analyse its go-to-market strategies and manage its stock operations more efficiently.
Agility, innovation and simplification in stores
Openbravo Store is a fully web-based store solution that avoids the need for local servers, considerably simplifying stores' IT complexity as well as their deployment and configuration tasks. This gave Deporvillage the agility it needed to deliver its ambitious launch plan. With Openbravo Store, Deporvillage also secures a solution that will make it easier in future to introduce innovations and new sales scenarios, thanks to POS software that supports use from fixed terminals, mobile devices, self-checkout or kiosks.
Fewer stockouts and shipping incidents
Detailed, real-time visibility of all available stock has, over time, considerably reduced the number of stockouts and shipping incidents, resulting in better service and an improved shopping experience for its customers.
Optimised purchasing and stockholding costs
By factoring in the company's own commercial algorithms and leveraging the flexibility offered by the platform, Deporvillage gains more accurate, more reliable and more efficient purchasing and replenishment processes. The resulting costs have thus been optimised, supporting greater profitability of operations.
